
Regarding the electoral alliance, Salahuddin said, “The process of forming a grand alliance is underway. There are political contacts with the National Citizens Party (NCP), but it is not yet certain whether the alliance will take place or not.”
BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman will return to the country next November, said Salahuddin Ahmed, a member of the party’s standing committee.
He also said that ahead of the upcoming national parliamentary elections, the green signal will be given to party candidates in at least 200 seats this month.
He made these remarks while talking to reporters at his residence in Gulshan in the capital on Friday (October 24) afternoon.

He said, “The chief advisor has been asked to maintain the government’s neutrality during the election.”
However, according to the RPO amendment, ‘even if you are a candidate of an alliance, you will have to contest the elections under your own party symbol’ – said Salahuddin, stating that BNP does not agree with this, saying, ‘This will discourage small parties from forming alliances.’
Responding to a question about which constituency BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will contest the next election from, the top BNP leader said, “We hope that Begum Khaleda Zia will take her own decision whether to contest or not, considering her physical condition. We want her to contest the election.”
