
In light of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the United States and the Bangladesh government, the Bangladesh government is starting wheat import activities from the United States for the first time through a government-to-government (G2G) system.
This information was given in a press release from the Ministry of Food.
It said that a total of 440,000 metric tons of wheat will be imported under this agreement, the first shipment of which, a ship carrying 56,959 metric tons of wheat, arrived at the outer anchorage of Chittagong Port today.
The Food Ministry also said that the process of testing samples of wheat on board the ship has already begun.
The press release said that necessary measures have been taken for the quick release of the wheat samples after testing.
It is worth noting that out of 56,959 metric tons of wheat, 34,170 metric tons will be unloaded at Chittagong and the remaining 22,789 metric tons of wheat will be unloaded at Mongla Port.
