
Members of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force will be most engaged in the upcoming 13th National Parliament election, said Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd).
The advisor said this while speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of the transport service of the Ansar Welfare Trust at the headquarters of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force in Khilgaon in the capital this morning.
The advisor said that the contribution of Ansars is the most in the election. A total of 13 Ansar members will be deployed at each polling station. Out of these 13, three will be with weapons and the remaining 10 will be without weapons. Out of the 10 unarmed people, 6 will be men and 4 will be women. Moreover, this is the first time that an Ansar member with weapons will be deployed with the presiding officer. He said that the Ansar members will be engaged in the election for a total of nine days. Ansar members will play the most important role in the upcoming elections.
Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) said, Bangladesh Ansar and VDP forces have been playing a very important role in the country’s security, maintaining peace and order and national development in every phase. Without caring about their own lives and interests, they are engaged in the service of the nation with devotion, sense of responsibility and patriotism. Therefore, ensuring the quality of work and welfare of each member of the force is a moral responsibility and part of the state commitment of all of us. As part of this, a total of 31 vehicles have been purchased with the Bangladesh Ansar Welfare Trust’s own funds. Which include 9 troop carriers, 14 covered vans, 4 large buses with 42 seats, 2 mini buses with 24 seats and 2 ambulances.
The Home Affairs Advisor said, the members of this largest force in the country often face various types of transportation problems during vacations, entertainment trips and other various needs. Today’s transport service has been launched with the aim of alleviating their suffering and increasing their convenience. The advisor expressed hope that the transport service will be operated with the utmost professionalism and efficiency and will ensure reliable and safe transport facilities for all members of the force holding valid identity cards.
In response to journalists’ questions about the recovery of illegal weapons outside, the advisor said that weapons are being recovered every day. This is an ongoing process. Eight weapons were recovered the day before yesterday. He said that such recoveries will continue and as the elections approach, the number of weapons recovered will increase and one day you will see that there are no more weapons or tools outside.
Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force Director General Major General Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud and senior officers of the force were present at the event.
