Rakib Hasan, the cherished author behind the iconic “Tin Goyenda” juvenile detective series, has passed away at the age of 75. He died on Wednesday during a dialysis session at a Dhaka hospital, after his heart unexpectedly stopped.
The sad news was confirmed by Masuma Maimur, an adviser at Sheba Prokashoni, which published Tin Goyenda.
In a Facebook post, Maimur expressed her sorrow, sharing that Hasan’s death occurred during a routine dialysis treatment. She requested prayers for his eternal peace, adding that the beloved author’s passing has left a profound void for his readers and the literary community.
Rakib Hasan had been battling severe kidney issues for some time. Both of his kidneys had failed, and he required dialysis four times every month. For several months, he had been undergoing treatment at Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital while being bedridden.
His son, Rahid Hasan, had earlier highlighted the financial struggles the family faced in securing treatment for him.
Born on December 12, 1950, in Cumilla, Rakib Hasan spent his early years in Feni due to his father’s job. He completed his schooling and later attended Cumilla Victoria College.
After finishing his education, Hasan worked in various professions, but the conventional office life did not satisfy him. It was then that he turned to writing, which became his true calling.
His “Tin Goyenda” series, which inspired generations of young readers, remains one of Bangladesh’s most beloved literary creations.
