A meeting of the Central Executive Council of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami was held today (Tuesday, November 4) evening under the chairmanship of Ameer-e-Jamaat Dr. Shafiqur Rahman. Members of the Central Executive Council were present in the meeting.

In the meeting, the Ameer-e-Jamaat presented various aspects of his foreign tour to the leaders. Ameer-e-Jamaat Dr. Shafiqur Rahman’s tour was praised by Allah the Almighty as it was fruitful for the country and the nation, and the Central Executive Council thanked him.

The meeting discussed in detail the current political situation in the country.

The Central Executive Council notes that the government is delaying the holding of a referendum to give legal basis to the July National Charter, which is worrying for the nation. Some are harboring the idea of holding the referendum and the national election on the same day. If the referendum and the national election are held on the same day, the importance of the referendum will be seriously reduced. This will throw the referendum process into uncertainty. Because if voting in any polling station in the national election is suspended, the referendum will also be suspended – which is absolutely unacceptable.

In this context, the Central Executive Council of Jamaat-e-Islami strongly demands from the interim government that the government immediately issue an order to implement the July National Charter and organize a referendum by November. In addition, in light of the results of the referendum, the national elections should be confirmed in February.

The Central Executive Council of Jamaat-e-Islami is strongly demanding that the government and the Election Commission install CCTV cameras in every polling station to make the national elections free, fair, transparent and acceptable.
