
RAB has arrested 18 Rohingyas, including 12 men and 6 women, for illegally living outside the refugee camp in Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar.
Assistant Director (Law and Media) of RAB-15, Assistant Superintendent of Police A. M. Faruk confirmed this information on Monday (November 10) morning.
He said that on the basis of secret information, a special operation was conducted on Sunday (November 9) night in various rented houses in Balukhali Mora Gachtala area of Palangkhali union of Ukhia police station and 18 Rohingyas who were illegally staying outside the camp were arrested. Recently, the Rohingyas have been staying illegally in various rented houses outside the camp. These Rohingyas are getting involved in various criminal activities including murder, robbery, dacoity, drug trafficking and kidnapping after coming outside the camp. This is causing a deterioration in the law and order situation in Cox’s Bazar and surrounding areas.
The detainees have been handed over to Ukhia Police Station for legal action. The RAB official said that the operation by RAB and other law enforcement agencies will continue to prevent Rohingyas from staying illegally outside the camps.
