Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has said that Jamaat will not form any alliance in the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections. However, there is a possibility of an electoral compromise.
He made this statement while talking to reporters at Sylhet Osmani International Airport on Wednesday (November 5) morning.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “We will hold elections in February 2026 with everyone. If there is no election, various kinds of chaos may arise.”
Regarding the foreign tour, the Jamaat Ameer said, “I have met with expatriates abroad. The expatriate Bangladeshis have come forward with the warmth and love of their hearts. I am overwhelmed by their love. Their expectations from this nation are as high as the sky. They also want to contribute to nation building. They have nothing to gain from this nation. They want a little respect. Despite the boundless contributions of the expatriates, we are still not able to show them due respect.”
Regarding the participation of Awami League in the elections, he said, “Awami League has no chance of remaining in the next elections. Besides, elections through the PR system are their best claim, so I believe that the general public will support elections through the PR system.”
Shafiqur Rahman has come to Sylhet for the first time after being elected to the highest position of the party for the third time. He was showered with love from thousands of leaders and activists on the occasion of his arrival in his native Sylhet. After reaching Sylhet, he will participate in separate organizational programs organized by the district and metropolitan Jamaat.
