Content creator Ashraful Alam alias Hero Alam has been arrested. He was arrested on Saturday (November 15) afternoon in a case of attempted murder filed by his wife Riya Monir.

Mohammad Raju, officer-in-charge (OC) of Hatirjheel Police Station in the capital, confirmed the arrest.

Police said that the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court issued an arrest warrant against Hero Alam last Wednesday (November 12). He was arrested based on that warrant.

His wife Riya Moni filed the case at the Hatirjheel Police Station in the capital on June 23, alleging attempted murder, assault and intimidation. Along with Hero Alam, another person named Ahsan Habib Selim has been named as an accused in this case. The court has also issued an arrest warrant against him.

According to the allegations in the case, a disagreement recently arose between Hero Alam and plaintiff Riya Moni. After that, Hero Alam divorced the plaintiff and threw her out of the house.

On June 21, the plaintiff’s family was called to a house under Hatirjheel police station to settle the dispute. At that time, 10 to 12 unidentified persons, including Hero Alam, started abusing the plaintiff and his family members in foul language. Later, they illegally entered the plaintiff’s current house and beat him on the head and various parts of his body with wooden sticks.

The plaintiff sustained injuries in the attack. The complaint also states that a gold chain weighing one and a half bhori was stolen from his neck.
