Heavyweight candidates who lost the election

After the parliamentary elections and referendum voting in a festive atmosphere across the country, the candidates of the paddy sheaf have won more than 150 seats in unofficial results. The media has reported that the Jamaat-e-Azam alliance and seven other candidates have won. However, several heavyweight candidates from different parties have been defeated in the election.

Unofficial results of the election show that three heavyweight candidates from the Jamaat-e-Islami party, including Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, have lost. In addition, the list also includes the discussed candidates of the BNP, Khelafat Majlis and NCP.

In Khulna-5 constituency, Jamaat-e-Islami nominated candidate and party Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar was defeated by 2,702 votes. He received 144,956 votes with the scale symbol. BNP candidate Mohammad Ali Asgar (Lobby) won by getting 147,658 votes.

Jamaat candidate Hamidur Rahman Azad lost to BNP candidate Alamgir Muhammad Mahfuz Ullah Farid in Cox’s Bazar-2 (Kutubdia-Moheshkhali) constituency. The BNP candidate got 125,262 votes. The Jamaat candidate got 89,634 votes.

Another heavyweight candidate of Jamaat-e-Islami, Mohammad Shishir Monir, lost to BNP candidate Md. Nasir Chowdhury in Sunamganj-2 constituency. He got 63,220 votes while the BNP candidate got 97,790 votes.

Senior Nayeb Ameer of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Mufti Syed Mohammad Faizul Karim, has been defeated after contesting in two constituencies of Barisal-5 (City-Sadar) and Barisal-6 (Bakerganj).

Among them, BNP candidate Advocate Mujibur Rahman Sarwar got 135,146 votes in Barisal-5 constituency and his nearest rival Faizul Karim got 95,044 votes. In Barisal-6 (Bakerganj) constituency, BNP candidate Abul Hossain Khan got 82,217 votes and Faizul Karim got 55,988 votes.

Jatiya Party Chairman Golam Mohammad Quader lost to the scales in Rangpur-3 constituency. Jamaat candidate Md. Mahbubur Rahman (Belal) got 1 lakh 75 thousand 827 votes. And Jatiya Party Chairman got 43 thousand 385 votes.

Mahmudur Rahman Manna, president of Nagorik Oikya, lost by a large margin to BNP candidate Mir Shahe Alam in Bogra-2 (Shibganj) constituency. The BNP candidate was elected privately with 145,024 votes. Manna, with the kettle symbol, got 3,426. As a result, he lost his deposit.

Sarjis Alam, the NCP’s northern chief organizer and the nominated candidate of the 11-party alliance, lost in Panchagarh-1 constituency by 8,304 votes. He received a total of 1,66,126 votes with the Shapla Kali symbol. The winning BNP candidate received 1,74,430 votes.

In Dhaka-8 constituency, 11-party alliance candidate Nasiruddin Patwari lost to BNP candidate Mirza Abbas by more than 5,000 votes. He received 54,127 votes while Mirza Abbas received 59,366 votes.

Independent candidate Tasnim Zara was defeated by a large margin in Dhaka-9 constituency. BNP candidate Habibur Rashid won by getting 111,212 votes. Tasnim Zara received 44,684 votes.

BNP candidate Bobby Hajjaj was elected in Dhaka-13 constituency. He received 86,694 votes. His nearest rival, Mamunul Haque of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis, received 83,851 votes.

Rashed Khan, the BNP nominee and former General Secretary of the People’s Rights Council, lost to Jamaat candidate Abu Talib in Jhenaidah-4 constituency by about 50,000 votes. The Jamaat candidate received 104,031 votes while Rashed Khan received 55,670 votes.

Abdul Baten of Jamaat-e-Islami has won the Dhaka-16 constituency by defeating Aminul Haque, the candidate of Paddy Sheesh. He won the constituency by securing 88,828 votes. His nearest rival Aminul Haque got 85,467 votes.

Md. Golam Sarwar Tushar of the National Citizens Party (NCP) was defeated by BNP’s Abdul Moin Khan in the Narsingdi-2 constituency by a large margin. Moin Khan received 92,352 votes and Tushar received 19,236 votes.

Apart from this, BNP chairman’s advisor and former MP Harunur Rashid Harun lost to Jamaat candidate Nurul Islam Bulbul in Chapainawabganj-3 constituency. He received a total of 126,997 votes. The winning Jamaat candidate received 189,613 votes.
