Another accident on Titas, gas supply cut off in areas of the capital

A valve in a gas pipeline has exploded near the Uttara-Tongi Bridge in Dhaka, disrupting gas supply to Uttara, Uttarkhan and Dakshinkhan, including surrounding areas, according to Titas Gas authorities.

A press release from Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution on Tuesday (January 13) night said that a valve in an industrial customer’s connection line burst, causing high-pressure gas to leak out. The 12-inch diameter main line of the Uttara distribution line has been closed for safety reasons. Work to replace the damaged valve is underway. Gas supply will be normal once the work is completed.

Titas Gas authorities sincerely apologize to customers for this temporary inconvenience.

Earlier, on January 10, a gas pipeline under the Turag River was damaged and a valve exploded on Dhaka’s Mirpur Road, causing a severe gas crisis in various areas of the capital. Consumers suffered from low gas pressure.

The authorities sincerely apologize to customers for this temporary inconvenience.

There has been a supply crisis of LPG gas in Dhaka for the past one month. It is not available even at double the price. In the meantime, the supply of pipeline gas is being disrupted due to regular accidents.

On January 4, a pipeline ruptured under the Turag River, which is still disrupting gas supply in Mirpur and Mohammadpur areas.

Then, on the afternoon of January 10, a valve burst in front of Ganabhaban, cutting off supply to customers. That night, after a new valve was installed, gas supply was restored.
