
Three people, including two school students, were killed and two others seriously injured in a road accident in Pabna Sadar on Sunday.
The incident took place on the Dhaka-Pabna highway in Bangabaria area of Gayeshpur Union in Sadar on Sunday (October 26) at around 7:30 am.
The deceased were identified as Tasmia Akhter, a fourth-grade student of Pabna Collegiate School and College, and Abu Toha, a fifth-grade student. Van driver Akram Hossain was also killed.
It is learnt that around 7:30 am, eight to 10 students of Cadet Collegiate School and College in Jalalpur area of Pabna were travelling in a van when it was hit by a freight truck heading from Dhaka to Pabna. Three people including the van driver were killed. Two other pedestrians were seriously injured. Locals informed the Madhpur Highway Police Station and the police reached the spot and recovered the bodies. The truck has been seized. Traffic on the highway has been closed.
Madhpur Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mostafizur Rahman confirmed the incident and said that three people, including the van driver, were killed and two people inside the tea shop were injured. The bodies of the deceased have been recovered. The truck has been seized. Legal action is under process.
