Zahid-Salman of the VP-AGS camp in Raksu, former coordinator Ammar GS

In the Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union (RACSU) elections, the president of the branch Chhatra Shibir, Mostakur Rahman Zahid, has won the post of Vice President (VP) and the former coordinator Salahuddin Ammar has won the post of General Secretary (GS). In addition, the president of the Sochar RU branch, SM Salman Sabbir, has won the post of Assistant General Secretary (AGS). Both Mostakur and Sabbir were candidates of the panel supported by Chhatra Shibir.

Chief Election Commissioner Professor F Nazrul Islam announced the final results at Rajshahi University’s Kazi Nazrul Islam Auditorium at around 8:30 am today, Friday (October 17).

The announcement said that Mostaqur Rahman Zahid received the highest number of 12,687 votes for the VP post, while his closest rival Sheikh Nur Uddin Abir of the ‘Unified New Generation’ panel supported by Chhatra Dal received 3,397 votes. Tasin Khan of the ‘Universal Students’ Union’ panel received 1,621 votes.

Salahuddin Ammar, former coordinator and member of the ‘Anti-Hegemony Unity’ alliance, received the highest number of 11,546 votes for the GS post. His closest rival, Fahim Reza of the ‘Sammilit Chhattisgarh Alliance’, received 5,729 votes. Nafiul Islam Jiban of the ‘Unified New Generation’ panel supported by Chhatra Dal received 1,328 votes.

SM Salman Sabbir of the ‘Sammilit Chhattisgarh Jote’ became AGS with 6,978 votes. His closest rival, Jahin Biswas Esha of the ‘Unified New Generation’ supported by Chhatra Dal, received 5,941 votes. As an independent candidate, Sajibur Rahman received 2,907 votes.

In addition, five Senate members have been elected. They are Mostaqur Rahman Zahid, Salahuddin Ammar, Fahim Reza, Aqil bin Taleb and SM Salman Sabbir.
