Trump increases tariffs on all countries in the world from 10 to 15 percent

US President Donald Trump has announced that he will increase the temporary reciprocal tariffs imposed on all countries around the world from 10 percent to 15 percent. On Saturday (February 21), the country’s Supreme Court overturned the tariffs imposed by Trump last year.

Within hours, he announced a new 10 percent tariff on imports from all countries in the world. A few hours later, Trump increased it to 15 percent.

In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, he wrote, “I, as President of the United States, announce that starting today, we are increasing the 10 percent import tariff we impose on all countries in the world to 15 percent. Many countries have been cheating the United States for years and have not been held accountable (until I came to power!). From now on, these additional taxes will be enforced in accordance with the law.”

Under US law, the 15 percent tariff will remain in effect for 150 days, but Trump said his administration will work to make it permanent and legally binding.

Last year, Trump imposed reciprocal tariffs on countries around the world under the Emergency Economic Powers Act (EEPA), which has increased the prices of many goods in the United States.

The court said Trump had abused his power and should have sought congressional approval before imposing the tariffs.
