
A truck loaded with rice hit a freight train in the Sagarika area of Chittagong. The truck was twisted and the train derailed. Freight train services have been suspended as a result of the accident.
The incident took place in the city’s Sagarika Stadium Railgate area on Monday (October 28) morning.
A railway official said that the freight train left Chittagong port for Dhaka in the morning. When it reached Sagarika area, a truck ignored the signal and hit the train’s engine with force. As a result, the train’s engine overturned.
Chittagong Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahidul Islam told, “There was a collision between a truck and a freight train. Freight train movement has been suspended. The line is used only for freight trains and container transport. No passenger trains are facing any problems in Chittagong due to this. Work is underway to rescue the train.”
