Three Chiefs of Staff meet with chief advisor on election preparations

Principal Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus has given necessary instructions to the chiefs of the three services to ensure election-time security ahead of the 13th National Assembly elections to be held in the first half of February. He stressed the importance of conducting the elections peacefully, impartially and in an orderly manner.

Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman, Navy Chief Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hasan, and Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Hassan Mahmud Khan met the Chief Advisor at the State Guest House Jamuna on Saturday (November 1) at 7 pm.

National Security Advisor Dr. Khalilur Rahman was also present during the meeting.

During the meeting, the Chief Advisor commended the military members for their hard work in maintaining national security as well as law and order in the country.

He said that in the last 15 months, members of all forces, including the army, have worked very hard to maintain law and order in the country. The chief advisor has also given necessary instructions to the three forces to ensure that the upcoming elections are covered with a flawless security blanket.

The chief advisor said, ‘The interim government is committed to making the elections to be held in the first half of February free, fair, impartial, peaceful and festive.’

In today’s meeting, the chiefs of the three services informed the chief advisor about the military’s preparations for the elections.

90,000 army personnel, 2,500 navy personnel, and some air force personnel will be deployed to maintain law and order around the elections.

One company of soldiers will be deployed in each upazila.

In today’s meeting, the three service chiefs invited the chief advisor to organize Armed Forces Day on November 21.
