
German Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr. Rüdiger Lotz has said that the parliamentary elections to be held in Bangladesh next year are very important not only for the country’s domestic but also for regional and global democracy.
He believes that through the upcoming elections, Bangladesh will have the opportunity to once again take an important place in the democratic arena of Asia and the world.
Rudiger made these remarks to reporters after a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin at the Election Commission building in Agargaon, Dhaka, on Thursday (October 23).
He said that next year, Bangladesh will hold one of the world’s largest democratic elections. In this election, more than 127 million people will be allowed to express their democratic will. The participation of this large number of voters is important.
The German ambassador said that the upcoming elections are a very important step not only for Bangladesh, but also for regional and global democracy.
He commended the Election Commission of Bangladesh for preparing for this huge challenge in this journey of returning to democracy.
Emphasizing the acceptability of the election, he said, “We think that an acceptable election is needed. A credible election in which different parties can participate. This election in Bangladesh is of great importance to the international community.”
