
In the 13th National Parliament elections, the people of Bangladesh exercised their democratic rights to fulfill their aspirations.
The head of the Commonwealth Election Observation Mission and former President of Ghana, William Nana Akufo-Addo, made this statement at a post-election press conference at a hotel in the capital on Saturday (February 14).
The Commonwealth Election Observation Mission noted isolated incidents of tension in the post-election period. We encourage all stakeholders to maintain calm and peaceful conduct in the post-election period and to resolve any disputes through relevant legal channels, the Commonwealth Election Observation Mission said.
The Head of Mission said, “I commend the people of Bangladesh, election officials, law enforcement agencies, and the Bangladesh Election Commission, including the interim government, for conducting the 13th National Parliamentary Election and Referendum in a peaceful and orderly manner.”
“Looking ahead to the next election cycle, we encourage the Bangladesh Election Commission to conduct a post-election review that incorporates all observer recommendations for good practices,” he said.
The Head of the Commonwealth Election Observation Mission said, “The people of Bangladesh have exercised their democratic right to fulfill their aspirations. We encourage them to be generous and united in sharing their democratic future.”
