A court has banned the departure of ex-wife Sameera Haque and villain Don in connection with the murder of film actor Salman Shah. Inspector Atiqul Islam Khandaker of Ramna Model Police Station, the investigation officer of the case, applied for a ban on their departure.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saifuzzaman passed the order after a hearing on Monday. SI Jinnat Ali of the prosecution department of the court concerned confirmed the matter.
Salman Shah’s mother Neela Chowdhury’s brother Mohammad Alamgir filed the case at Kumkum Paltan Police Station on Monday midnight. The other accused in the case are Sameera Haque’s mother Latifa Haque Lucy, businessman Aziz Mohammad Bhai, Debt, Javed, Farooq, Ruby, A. Chattar, Saju, Rezvi Ahmed alias Farhad.
On September 6, 1996, film actor Salman Shah died in his flat in Eskaton, Dhaka. After his death, Salman Shah’s father, Qamaruddin Ahmed Chowdhury, initially filed a wrongful death case. But later, on July 24, 1997, he requested that the complaint be converted into a murder case, claiming that his son had been murdered.
The court then ordered the CID to investigate the murder case along with the unnatural death case. On November 3, 1997, the CID submitted a final report to the court stating that Salman Shah had committed ‘suicide’. Then, Kamaruddin Chowdhury rejected the CID report and filed a revision case. Later, on May 19, 2003, the court sent the case for judicial investigation.
After 11 years, Metropolitan Magistrate Imdadul Haque submitted the report on August 3, 2014. In this too, the murder charges were dismissed. After the death of Salman Shah’s father, his mother Neela Chowdhury continued the case. On February 10, 2015, Neela Chowdhury ‘objected’ to the judicial investigation report. She named 11 people and claimed that they were involved in the murder of her son.
The case was then investigated by RAB. When the state raised objections, on August 21, 2016, Judge Imrul Kayesh of Dhaka’s Special Judge 6 ordered RAB not to investigate the case any further. The investigation was then taken over by the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI). After four years of investigation, they submitted their final report on February 25, 2020. The report also said that after analyzing the statements of 54 witnesses present at the time of the incident and related to the incident, and reviewing the seized evidence, no evidence of murder was found.
The PBI said in its investigation report that the arrogant Salman Shah chose to commit suicide due to family feuds over his closeness with actress Shabnur and the mental anguish of leaving his mother Nilufa Chowdhury alias Neela Chowdhury due to his wife Samira Haque.
Salman’s mother Neela Chowdhury is not satisfied with the report either. She wants further investigation to find out how her son died. Later, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid, taking into account the PBI report, ordered the acquittal of the accused on October 31, 2021.
On Monday, the 6th Additional Metropolitan Sessions Court of Dhaka granted the revision petition filed by the mother of Md. Jannatul Ferdous Ibn Haque Salman Shah in the case related to his death. In this regard, the court ordered the filing of a murder case by attaching the complaint of Salman Shah’s father Qamaruddin and the statement of Rizvi Ahmed alias Farhad, who was involved in the incident, and ordered the Ramna Model Police Station to investigate the complaint and submit a report.
Mohammad Alamgir Kumkum alleged in the case that the accused, along with unknown fugitive accused, had planned and conspired with each other to kill Salman Shah on September 6, 1996.
