National Revolution and Solidarity Day today

Today is the historic 7th of November. National Revolution and Solidarity Day. On this day in 1975, the soldiers and the people came out on the streets shoulder to shoulder with the determination to thwart all the conspiracies of the hegemonic clique and protect national independence, sovereignty and democracy. On the occasion of the day, various parties including BNP and Jamaat will hold programs. As part of the BNP program, BNP will pay tribute and recite Fateha at the tomb of former President Ziaur Rahman in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar at 11 am today.

In addition, BNP has announced a 10-day program to mark the day, including a procession across the country, including Dhaka. BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir gave messages on the occasion.

In his message, Tarique Rahman said, November 7 is a historic and unforgettable day in the national life. On this day in 1975, the sepoys and the people, strengthened by patriotism, took to the streets with an unprecedented commitment to protect national independence and revive lost democracy. Therefore, the historic revolution of November 7 is very significant. The state lawlessness, political chaos, and the then ruling circles, for their own interests, endangered national independence and weakened sovereignty, pushing the country into the clutches of hegemony. They started anti-democratic activities only to perpetuate their power. That is why they formed a one-party dictatorship by strangling people’s freedom of speech and expression and killed democracy. A brutal one-party misrule began. A black shadow of unrest and despair descended on the country. The authoritarian government took away the just rights of the people in an extremely undemocratic and fascist manner.

The acting chairman of BNP said, “The fascists were forced to flee the country through the glorious sacrifice of the students and the people on August 5. The path of democracy’s liberation has been widened among the people. Now, for the practice of ultimate democracy, the essential conditions of democracy, including free and fair elections, must be ensured, including the fundamental human rights of the people. Because of the knee-jerk policies of the Awami fascists, there was unhindered aggression on our culture, tradition, language and tradition in the present era. Therefore, I think it is very important at this moment for all nationalist forces to unite in the spirit of November 7 to unblock the path of democracy and protect national independence and sovereignty.”

Meanwhile, in a statement, Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman called on party leaders, activists and countrymen to observe the day. He said that this day has great importance and significance in protecting the country’s independence, sovereignty and confronting conspiracies.
