Train services have resumed on the entire route, 23 and a half hours after a bearing pad fell off a pillar on the Metrorail line near the Farmgate area.
Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) Deputy Project Director (Public Relations) Md. Ahsan Ullah Sharifi told reporter, “I have started operations on the entire route from 11 am.”
A pedestrian was killed and two others were injured when a bearing pad fell from pillar number 433 of the Metrorail yesterday afternoon. Metrorail services were then suspended along the entire route for safety reasons.
Metro train services started on the Agargaon-Uttara section at around 3 pm and on the Motijheel-Shahbag section at around 7:15 pm. However, metro train services on the Shahbagh-Agargaon section remained suspended.
About 23 and a half hours after yesterday’s accident, DMTCL completed the installation of bearing pads on pillar number 433 and resumed metro train operations on the entire route.
