The start date of the Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2026 has been changed by five days to February 25. At the same time, it has been decided to completely waive the stall rent of the publishing houses participating in the fair.

These decisions were taken at a meeting held at the Shaheed Munir Chowdhury meeting room of Bangla Academy on Wednesday (February 18). Earlier, Bangla Academy had announced the organization of the book fair from February 20.

The meeting was chaired by Minister of Cultural Affairs Nitai Roy Chowdhury. State Minister of Cultural Affairs Ali Newaz Mahmud Khayyam, Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs Md. Mofidur Rahman and publisher representatives were present. Bangla Academy Director General Professor Mohammad Azam presented the latest situation of the upcoming book fair in the meeting.

In view of various demands of the publishers, it was decided in the meeting that the book fair will start on February 25 and continue till March 15. In addition, publishers who have not yet been allocated stalls in the 2026 book fair will have to apply by 3 pm on February 19. Stalls will be allocated among the applicants at 6 pm on that day.
