Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed his concern that ‘the enemies of Bangladesh are raising their heads again, there is an attempt to create anarchy in the country’.
The party’s Secretary General expressed this concern at a press conference at the BNP central office in Naya Paltan on Sunday afternoon.
He said, “Today’s political context is one of uncertainty and despair and every person is repeatedly wondering what will happen? What could happen?”
“We see that the enemies of Bangladesh have started to raise their heads again, they have started to raise their heads, we see that as time goes by, there is an attempt to create an anarchic situation, a complete anarchy in Bangladesh. Unfortunately, we see that the process of creating anarchy in the country by spreading that propaganda and false information is also going on on social media.”
In such a situation, Mirza Fakhrul, calling November 7 a ‘very important’ day, said, “The way martyred President Ziaur Rahman united the nation, the way national leader Begum Khaleda Zia led us in the nine-year struggle against dictatorship and the struggle for change, has united us.”
“In the same way, we see that our leader Mr. Tarique Rahman is trying to unite the country from that distant London, working to unite the nation, leading our party and providing new hope to the nation.”
A joint meeting of the party and its affiliates was held at the party’s central office in Naya Paltan at noon to finalize the program for celebrating the National Revolution and Solidarity Day on November 7. The BNP Secretary General presided over the meeting. Later, he came to the press conference with the leaders.
Highlighting the backdrop of November 7, 1975 and the rise of Ziaur Rahman to power, the BNP Secretary General said, “During his rule, the country was engaged in a campaign, and public enthusiasm was created. Unfortunately, martyred President Ziaur Rahman was brutally murdered by the enemies of Bangladesh at the Circuit House in Chittagong, and through his murder, another black murder began that day.”
“We have repeatedly said that the philosophy of nationalism that martyred President Zia Rahman preached can never be defeated, and that is why BNP has never been defeated. It has risen again and again from the ruins, like a phoenix.”
Referring to Ziaur Rahman’s extensive reform program in the areas of economy, education, industry, agriculture, media and women’s empowerment, including the introduction of a single-party regime, administration, judiciary, and economy, education, industry, agriculture, media and women’s empowerment, the BNP Secretary General said, “His various steps created a new enthusiasm for action in the country, that is, during his rule, the country embarked on a campaign of action. Unfortunately, martyred President Ziaur Rahman was brutally murdered by the enemies of Bangladesh at the Circuit House in Chittagong, and through the murder, another black murder began that day.”
“We want to remember this day because November 7 is important in our political life and we want to move forward with the philosophy of November 7.”
BNP Joint Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokon, Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohel, Abdus Salam Azad, Special Assistant to the Chairperson Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, and leaders of the metropolitan BNP and its affiliates were present at the press conference.
