The Titipara underpass has been opened. Almost two years of extreme suffering and hours of wasting time at the railway crossing whenever a train arrives have come to an end. The underpass was inaugurated this morning (Saturday, November 8) by the Special Assistant to the Principal Advisor on Defense and National Integration Development, Lt. J. Ob. Abdul Hafiz. Another Special Assistant, Sheikh Moin Uddin, was present at the time. However, as the construction of the Metrorail station on the Kamalapur-bound road is ongoing, it will take time to fully benefit from this underpass.
Mechanical vehicles will operate in 4 lanes of the 6-lane road below. Vehicles up to 5 meters high will be able to move freely through the underpass. On both sides, separate lanes for rickshaws and bicycles, as well as sidewalks for pedestrians, have been provided. To prevent pedal-powered vehicles from having to descend too much, the lanes on both sides have been raised higher than the middle 4 lanes. Now, the railway will move above and other vehicles below without any hindrance.
The beauty of the underpass is now visible with road markings, flower trees in the middle divider, lampposts on both sides of the road. However, behind this is a story of endless suffering of the people of this area for a long time. Due to the lack of alternative roads, the road had to be closed and the underpass had to be built. Due to which pedestrians and vehicles had to take a long detour. Valuable working hours have been wasted.
An underpass was built 11 meters below the main road, and there is a modern drainage system to prevent water from accumulating during heavy rains.
With its opening, a long-standing suffering is coming to an end. People will no longer have to wait for hours at train signals on the road connecting Motijheel with Mugda, Manda, Maniknagar and Sabujbagh areas.
However, it will take time to get 100% benefit from this underpass until the construction of the Metrorail station in Kamalapur is completed.
