Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has urged voters not to leave the polling station until they see the results, saying that votes can be stolen even after they cast their votes.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman made the remarks at a press briefing after the 11-party electoral alliance meeting on Tuesday (February 10) night. Leaders of the 11-party alliance were present at the time.
Regarding the referendum, he said, “There is an expectation that ‘Yes’ will win by a huge margin.” According to him, if ‘Yes’ wins, Bangladesh will win and the July implementation will take place. At the same time, various murders including Abrar’s will be tried. He said, the 11-party alliance has always taken a stand in favor of reforms and change.
Shafiqur Rahman also said that if justice can be established everywhere in society, it will be possible to move far ahead from the current situation. He said that the youth want work, not kindness; they want to be partners in the development of the country. With that aim, preparations are being made to hand over the responsibility of the country to the youth.
Claiming that the popular vote has not been reflected in the country since 2008, he said, “There is great enthusiasm among the people surrounding this election. Rural voters are returning to their respective areas with enthusiasm. He hopes that if the popular vote is reflected, Bangladesh will move forward in a new political direction.”
Addressing those involved in the conduct of the election, he said, “It is everyone’s duty to perform their duties honestly as servants of the republic. This will earn the trust and respect of the people.”
