The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP), under the supervision of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, in a drive today fined two travel agencies in the capital’s Nayapaltan area a total of Taka 3 lakh for irregularities and failure to provide services as promised.
The DNCRP officials, accompanied by representatives from the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry, conducted the joint drive at Airspeed Private Limited and Naria Travels and Tours this afternoon, said a press release here.
During the operation, Airspeed Private Limited was fined Taka 50,000 under Section 45 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009 for failing to deliver services as per commitment to its clients.
Besides, Naria Travels and Tours was penalised Taka 2.5 lakh– Taka 50,000 under Section 45 for similar failure to provide services, and Taka two lakh under Section 53 for negligence that caused financial losses to passengers.
Officials said the operation was part of an ongoing government effort to curb irregularities, overpricing of air tickets, and harassment of passengers in the aviation and travel service sector.
They also reaffirmed that the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism will continue such drives nationwide to ensure accountability and protect consumer rights in the travel and tourism industry.
