Iran’s Labor Party joins Jamaat alliance, ’11-party electoral unity’ again

The Labor Party led by Mustafizur Rahman Iran, who has been with the BNP for a long time, has now joined the Jamaat-e-Islami-led alliance. As a result, the alliance had initially been formed into 10 parties, but now it has again become 11 parties. This agreement, formed ahead of the 13th National Assembly elections, has been named ’11-party electoral unity’.

The announcement of joining the Labor Party alliance was announced at a press conference at the central office of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami on Saturday (January 24) evening.

At the press conference, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Assistant Secretary General and President of the National Election Steering Committee ATM Masum said, “We want to build a country free from corruption and extortion. For this, we want to form a government in the future with all parties, patriotic and thoughtful people. For that purpose, the Bangladesh Labor Party has officially joined the ’10-Party Election Unity’ alliance. This is a great progress. We want to move forward with all such patriotic, anti-hegemonic parties and individuals.” The Jamaat leader also said that the ’10-Party Election Unity’ has become the ’11-Party Election Unity’ alliance from today.

Bangladesh Labor Party President Dr. Mustafizur Rahman Iran was present at the press conference. In addition, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Central Executive Council Member Abdur Rab, Khelafat Majlis Joint Secretary General Professor Abdul Jalil, Joint General Secretary Altaf Hossain, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis Joint Secretary General Tofazzal Hossain Mia, NCP Joint Member Secretary Akram Hossain and leaders of the alliance’s partner parties were present.

Incidentally, there was an 11-party alliance including the Islami Andolan Bangladesh led by Charmonai Pir. However, the Islami Andolan recently left the alliance due to a dispute over seat sharing. Besides, Mostafizur Rahman Iran was in the BNP alliance for a long time. This time, he announced that he was leaving the BNP alliance after not getting any seat concession from the BNP.
