Foreign Affairs Advisor M Towhid Hossain expects a voter turnout of more than 55 percent in the upcoming national elections.
He made this statement at a function organized at a hotel in the capital on Sunday (February 1).
Speaking at the concluding session of a training program organized by the Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB), Foreign Affairs Adviser M Touhid Hossain told reporters that 55 percent of the votes were cast in the 1991 national elections.
However, I think more than 55 percent of the votes will be cast in this election.
In response to a question, the advisor said, “There was a ambivalence among many about the yes vote. Jamaat-NCP had already said in favor of the yes vote. And later the BNP chairman said in favor of the yes vote.”
People will vote yes after listening to the party. Now that the big parties have said yes, I think the yes vote will be very easy.
