Bangladesh is ranked 13th among the most corrupt countries in the world. Bangladesh is ranked in this position with a score of 24 out of 100 out of 182 countries. Bangladesh is ranked 150th in the ranking. Last year, Bangladesh was ranked 14th.
This information was published by the Berlin-based organization Transparency International (TI) in its Global Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2025 report.
Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) officially released the report at its office in Dhanmondi in the capital on Tuesday (February 10) morning.
This year, Denmark tops the list of least corrupt countries with a score of 89. South Sudan and Somalia top the list of most corrupt countries with a score of 9.
Apart from this, Bangladesh is ranked 13th out of 182 countries with a score of 24 out of 100 and ranked 150th in the highest order.
TIB believes that Bangladesh’s one-point increase in score this year was due to the immediate positive impact of the July coup on achieving democratic and accountable governance. However, the data did not reflect the subsequent realities of the state reform process.
TIB says that no country could score 100 percent this time.
80 percent of the world’s people live in highly corrupt countries. Globally, corruption is on the rise. Corruption is also on the rise in countries that claim to be democratic.
Therefore, TIB believes that there has not been much positive change in Bangladesh’s score and position due to the lack of progress in the state reform process.
