59.44 percent voter turnout in election: EC

The Election Commission has announced that 59.44 percent of the votes were cast in the 13th National Parliament election and referendum.

EC Public Relations Director Ruhul Amin Mallick gave this information on Friday (February 13) morning.

He said, based on the information received, an average of 59.44 percent votes were cast in 299 constituencies. This voter turnout was determined based on the information sent by the relevant returning officers.

Previously, the highest voter turnout of 87.13 percent among the 12 parliamentary elections held in Bangladesh was in the ninth national parliamentary election in 2008.

Apart from this, the lowest voter turnout of 49.67 percent was in the second national parliamentary election in 1979.
