Election Commission Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said that the final number of polling stations for the 13th National Parliamentary Election is 42,761 in 300 parliamentary constituencies across the country.
He gave this information to reporters in front of his office at Nirban Bhaban in Agargaon in the capital today (Monday).
The secretary said, "We have finally prepared the list of polling stations today. The number of polling stations in 300 parliamentary constituencies in 64 districts stands at 42,761. As for the number of rooms, 115,137 rooms have been allocated for men and 129,602 rooms for women. That is, the total number of rooms stands at 244,649."
Akhtar Ahmed further said that the number of temporary polling stations is initially 14, where there will be about 12,000 polling booths. On average, there will be 3,000 voters in a polling booth. This has been considered as the 'catchment area'. This number will be adjusted later if necessary.
According to the EC draft, the number of draft polling stations was 42,618, which was 42,148 in the 12th parliamentary election. Also, in the upcoming elections, there will be a total of 244,046 polling stations in these polling stations, which was 261,564 in the last election. That is, although the number of polling stations increased in the contested parliamentary election, the number of polling stations decreased.
