Postal voting registration activities in Bahrain, Kuwait, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have been temporarily suspended due to voters not providing correct and complete addresses during the registration process through the Postal Vote BD app.
This information was given in a press release signed by EC Secretariat Director (Public Relations) and Information Officer Md. Ruhul Amin Mallick on Thursday (November 27).
The notification said, "As the voters did not provide the correct and complete address during the registration process through the 'Postal Vote BD' app, the registration process related to voting by post in the mentioned countries - Bahrain, Kuwait, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates - has been temporarily suspended. It is not possible to send ballot papers by post to the voters without providing the correct and complete address. The next steps will be informed soon."
It is to be noted that for the first time, expatriate Bangladeshis residing abroad will vote through postal ballots in the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum.
According to the postal voting update information published on the Election Commission (EC) website, a total of 53,096 expatriate voters have registered through the 'Postal Vote BD' app as of 1 pm today, Thursday.
