India secured the series win on the back of a century by Yashasvi Jaiswal and fifties by Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Team India won the series 2-1 with a convincing nine-wicket win in the third and final ODI against South Africa.
India won the toss and elected to bat first against South Africa at the Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Saturday. Batting first, South Africa posted 270 runs in 47.5 overs after losing the toss.
Chasing the target, India won by 9 wickets with 61 balls in hand. Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal played an impeccable innings of 112 runs off 121 balls with the help of 12 fours and two sixes. Former captain Rohit Sharma scored 75 runs off 73 balls with 7 fours and three sixes. Another former captain Virat Kohli played a fighting innings of 65 runs off 45 balls with 6 fours and three sixes.
Batting first, Ryan Rickleton lost his wicket in the first over of the innings. Opener Quinton de Kock then put on a 113-run partnership with captain Timba Bavuma for the second wicket.
South Africa then lost 4 wickets by 85 runs. In the last ball of the 21st over, Bavuma returned with 48 runs in 67 balls with the help of 5 boundaries. Matthew Britzke returned with 24 runs in 23 balls. Aiden Markram returned with just 1 run in 3 balls. De Kock, who had been batting responsibly since the start of the innings, returned with 199 runs for the team.
Then Dewald Brevis, Marku Jensen, Corbin Bos, Lungi Ngidi took part in the procession and South Africa were eventually all out for 270 runs in 42.5 overs. For India, Kuldeep Yadav took 4 wickets for 41 runs in 10 overs. Prasidh Krishna took 4 wickets for 66 runs in 9.5 overs.
India won the first ODI of the series by 17 runs in Ranchi, scoring a record 349 runs. India failed to win the second match in Raipur despite scoring a record 358 runs. The Proteas defeated the hosts to level the series 1-1.
However, hosts India lost the two-match Test series 2-0. If they lose the ODI match today, Team India will miss out on an ODI and Test series at home after the nineties.
