Senior Election Commissioner of the Commission Abdur Rahmanel Machud said, 'The EC now has no obstacles in organizing the elections. Our preparations are 100 percent complete. We are fully ready if the elections are held in the first or second week of February.'
He said this in an exclusive interview with Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).
He said, "According to the latest reports, the voting ink brought from abroad has arrived. This is an important part of the election preparations. Almost all the basic work required before the vote has already been completed."
Regarding the current law and order situation in the country, Abdur Rahmanel Machud said, "A fair and peaceful environment of law and order is essential not only for elections, but also for the overall development and stability of the country. The mood of voting has been created since the political parties announced their candidates. We believe that the situation will improve if everyone goes to the polling station."
He also said that the upcoming national elections are very important. Without an elected government and the introduction of democratic principles, there will be no stability and sustainable development in the country. Therefore, this election must be fair, impartial and participatory.
Abdur Rahmanel Machud also mentioned that the main goal of this year's commission is to overcome the distrust that has arisen among the people due to irregularities in the last few national elections.
He further said, "There is no alternative but to hold a good election. In the interest of the nation, the country and to restore the trust of the people, we must organize a fair, impartial and acceptable election. Our goal is to turn this election into a festival for the people."
Abdur Rahmanel Machud said, 'We want the 13th National Parliament election to become a democratic festival. Our main goal is for the people to be able to freely vote for the candidate of their choice.'
