Various drugs, gels and creams are being openly sold on Daraz, a widely used e-commerce platform in Bangladesh, in the name of increasing sexual arousal. These products include capsules called 'Narider Harman O Yauban +', 'Ladies Lubricant Gel', 'Female Hot Cream', etc., which are being promoted as increasing sexual power and bringing lubrication during intimate moments.
Not only that, these products are being directly advertised on Facebook and other social media, easily attracting young people.
A search of Daraz's website and app revealed that these products are listed under the 'Health and Beauty', 'Women's Care', and even 'Personal Care' categories. Some of the products use language that is directly obscene and sexually suggestive. For example, claims are made that "helps keep women's genitals moist", "relieves pain during intercourse", "effective in restoring youth", etc.

The packages and advertisements of these products depict women's bodies in revealing and distorted poses, which has been accused of contributing to the spread of obscenity and perverted sexual attitudes in society. In particular, these advertisements are being sponsored and run on Facebook, where there is no age verification system. As a result, teenagers can easily view these contents.
Medical experts say there is no scientific evidence to support the effectiveness of these drugs or gels. In many cases, they are illegally imported and unregistered, which can pose serious health risks. Despite the presence of steroids, hormones or chemical ingredients, many times they are not mentioned on the product label.

As there is currently no visible government oversight on these issues, conscious circles are drawing the attention of the Department of Consumer Rights Protection, the Department of Drug Administration, and the Ministry of Information. It is now the demand of the hour to take swift action against the sale of indecent and fake health products on online platforms.
In this regard, Daraz Bangladesh Chief Corporate Affairs Officer AHM Hasinul Quddus (Rusho) told media, "These may have been inputted during the regular checkup gap. We have warned all the sellers who are selling these. If anyone is selling them, we will take action."
However, these banned products were still available on Daraz's website even before this report was published.
