The much-awaited agreement on the recruitment of personnel from the Bangladesh Armed Forces to the Qatari Armed Forces has been signed in Doha, Qatar. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced this in a press release today (Sunday, November 16).
The agreement was signed by the Principal Staff Officer of the Bangladesh Armed Forces Division, Lieutenant General SM Kamrul Hasan, and the Chief of Staff of the Qatar Armed Forces, Lieutenant General (Pilot) Jassim bin Mohammed Al Mannai.
In addition, Bangladesh Ambassador to Qatar Mohammad Hazrat Ali Khan, delegation members, and relevant officials of the embassy were present at the agreement signing ceremony.
The signing of the agreement will allow members of the Bangladesh Armed Forces to be seconded to the Qatari Armed Forces. As a result, an initial approximately 800 personnel will be sent to Qatar, with the possibility of increasing the number of personnel in the future.
The agreement opens a new door for sending skilled manpower to the Qatari armed forces and will take the existing relations between the two countries to new heights, the press release said. In addition, the Bangladeshi members will benefit financially and the Bangladeshi government will be able to earn a significant amount of foreign exchange.
In addition, during this visit, the Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division will discuss various issues of bilateral interest with the Qatari government, high-ranking officials of the armed forces, and individuals related to the military industry.
It is worth noting that on April 21-25, 2025, Professor Muhammad Yunus, Principal Advisor to the Government of Bangladesh, visited Qatar on the occasion of the "Arthana" Conference. During that time, he discussed various issues related to bilateral interests with leading figures of the Qatari government.
The Chief Advisor's visit and fruitful diplomacy accelerated the signing of this agreement between the Bangladesh Armed Forces and the Qatari Armed Forces.
